Confined Spaces
Overview
Training is necessary for supervisors, stand-by person, workers entering confined spaces as well as rescue personnel, it is a Department of Labour requirement that everyone involved is properly trained by a competent trainer. Our training meets or exceeds the requirements by the Department of Labour.
What Our Confined Spaces Course Will Teach You
- Knowledge and awareness of hazards within confined spaces
- How to ensure that you can set-up and work within a confined space safely, and become an asset to a working team, both in and around confined spaces
- To fully understand the differences between Gas Testing, and Gas Monitoring
Among the hazards that are covered in depth include:
- Confined space restrictions, and their effect on patient recovery in the event of incident
- Methods of entry and exit into confined spaces
- Types of gases that can be found in common Confined Spaces (eg sewer’s, tank’s, silo’s, trenches)
- Hazards associated with Gas Testing over Gas Monitoring
- Suspension Trauma, and its effects on the human body
- Duties of Safety Personal, and the risks associated with these tasks
- Isolation of Confined Space Hazards (lockout methods) vs Minimisation (use of PPE and Breathing Apparatus)

- Demonstrate Knowledge of Hazards Associated with Confined Spaces

- Plan a Confined Space Entry
- NZQA Code: 17599. 4 credits level 5
- Total NZQA unit standard credits: 3 credits at level 3 and 4 credits at level 5
- Demonstrate Knowledge of Hazards Associated with Confined Spaces
